This comprehensive training course weaves the ancient sister-sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda into a holistic understanding of practice, application and study. Students will have the opportunity to learn the material through immersion with an integrative approach.

Students will learn:

  • The benefits and cautions of principal asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and kriyas (cleansing techniques)
  • How to create various class-styles from the beginner to intermediate levels
  • Teaching methodology, including modifications for age and common injuries/conditions, how to create a grounded and inspired space for teaching/learning, the use of voice, language and more….
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • The physical/mental benefits of yoga
  • Subtle Yogic Anatomy and the Chakras
  • Mantra and Mudras
  • Introduction to Ayurveda, Nutrition, and the Yogic diet
  • Yoga Philosophy
  • Study and discussion of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, aphorisms giving insight into profound yogic practices and contemplations, as well as their life-transforming benefits
  • Teaching practicum and feedback from the trainers and your peers

Principal Teachers: Alvaro Esteban

Alvaro is an International mind-body practitioner, yoga instructor, educator and artist. His journey began as a child, through movement, breath and energy, during his study of martial arts. As a teenager, he then commenced the study of yoga, dance and somatic techniques. Alvaro’s interest to learn more about the energetics and mechanics of the body, impassioned him to travel to International shores and study with masters of yoga and health. His expertise and skilled knowledge was then applied in various holistic healing centers, where he was able to empower others through teaching and applied yoga therapy. As a seasoned musician who leads group meditations and mantra practice, Alvaro maintains a multi-disciplinary approach, with continued study and teachings from various traditions under the guidance of accomplished masters.

Nicole Mahabir

Nicole Mahabir is an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Yoga Therapist and Healer. Her studies began during early childhood through the introduction of Vedic Scripture and Raja Yoga. During her youth, her family life embodied the ancient way of Ayurveda and in her early adulthood, she was introduced to energetic and physical healing techniques. Nicole’s formal education includes extensive International Studies in Marma Therapy, Ayurveda, Ayu-Yog Therapy, Shamanic Healing and Energy Medicine. She is an Educator, Therapist and Counselor.

In 2010, Nicole launched the first Ayu-Yoga Therapy program in Canada and co-directed the one of the first North America Ayurvedic Spa Product Lines. Her Ayurvedic treatments have been touted in various publications including Oxygen, Eye Weekly and City Post. Nicole shares that the path of Ayurveda and Yoga is simply a path of living truth and integrity with a sincere connection to understanding oneself.
